Useful Swahili Phrases for Travel To Tanzania

  
Learning local language is always good idea, no matter where you travel. If you travel to Tanzania, you should try to learn at least some basic  Swahili greetings. By knowing some Swahili phrases you will not only impress locals but also show respect to foreign culture.  Furthermore, basic Swahili will also come handy in other countries in East Africa Region – Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.




Greetings are important in East Africa and you don't launch into a conversation or even ask a question without first saying "hello, how are you?"

Hello - Jambo
How are you? - Habari gani
Fine (response) - Nzuri
Goodbye - Kwa heri

Dont worry  - Hakuna Matata

Good Morning -  Habari za usubuhi
Good night - Usiku mwema
Bon voyage -  Safari njema
Good luck! -  Kila la kheri!
