Here is basic 4 day Summer Kenya Migration Safari Itinerary:
Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara
By around June and July climaxing in August and September the great phenomenon takes place in Masai Mara.
Millions of the wildebeests have already arrived in Mara plains where there is much lush grass pastures. The wildebeests try to close the Mara River to access the plains that have plenty of pastures. At this time the Mara River is swollen because of heavy rains on the Mau Escarpments and crossing becomes a dangerous affair for the weak wildebeests and they end up drowning and also because of the great stampede resulting from crossing at one point.
In the event of Great Migration, less is more. And time spent only in Masai Mara National Park, will be paid off with spectacular scenes!
You will depart your Nairobi Hotel after breakfast. We take you straight to Masai Mara! Drive through the floor of the Rift Valley to the world famous Masai Mara game reserve. Masai Mara is arguably the most popular game sanctuary in Kenya part of the vast Serengeti plains. You go past the Massai town of Narok arriving in Masai Mara in time for lunch.
At 1600 hrs enjoy a normal afternoon game drive in search for the big 5 before driving back to the Lodge at 1800hrs

On this day we plan that we spend a full day in the reserve to enable us follow the spectacular wildebeest migration.
Therefore instead of early morning game drive at 0630hrs, we shall depart at 0800hrs after breakfast and we shall carry our picnic lunch boxes.
For the rest of the midmorning and early afternoon we shall spend in the reserve where virtually every other wildlife can be seen.
The attraction at this time of the year however is the annual wildebeest migration. The animals are seen in great numbers on the plains but we shall be looking for the dramatic crossing happening happening at River Mara where they are preyed on by the crocodiles. This is the most spectacular event to behold. You must not miss your cameras to record this amazing sight that is now been identified as one of the Wonders of the World.
In the afternoon we shall drive back to the Lodge for freshening up. You will have dinner and rest of evening at leisure.
